This policy sets out how the NHW Community Village manages information which it collects from you.
NHW Community Village is bound by the National Privacy Principles which are contained in the Commonwealth Privacy Act, except in respect of its journalistic activities. By publishing this policy on the NHW Community Village website, NHW Community Village makes a public commitment in respect of its journalistic activities to observe the privacy standards established by the Australian Press Council.
Information collected by NHW Community Village
NHW Community Village collects personal information and sensitive information (collectively "information") on behalf of Auris Communications Pty Ltd.
This information includes (but is not limited to) your name, address, contact details, gender, occupation, beliefs and opinions (including but not limited to religious, philosophical, social and political), sexual preferences or practices, racial or ethnic origin, memberships of associations or organisations, criminal records, health information and, in some cases, financial information.
NHW Community Village collects this information from you in two ways. First, when you submit your User Registration Form (ie, your "Member Sign-Up Data") and, second, on an on-going basis, whenever you use NHW Village's website (ie, the information you provide when you complete a NHW Village survey or questionnaire, make a posting to a NHW Community Village bulletin board, participate in NHW Community Village forums or when you communicate directly with NHW Community Village by e-mail).
NHW Community Village may use cookies to collect information from you. Cookies identify a particular computer to NHW Community Village's server. NHW Community Village may use the information collected in this way to provide the user of that computer with a customised or personalised experience of NHW Community Village's website. Your browser may allow you to disable cookies. If you do this, your experience of the NHW Community Village website will not be customised or personalised.
Because of the type of information NHW Community Village collects from you, NHW Community Village requires your consent for that collection and for each of the specific uses and disclosures of that information by NHW Community Village described below. You will give that consent by accepting the Terms & Conditions Agreement (which is a condition of your use of the NHW Community Village website and which directly incorporates this policy).
If you do not provide all or part of the information NHW Community Village collects from you, NHW Community Village may not be able to provide you with all of the services on the NHW Community Village web-site.
Use and disclosure of information collected by NHW Community Village
NHW Community Village uses the information collected from you:
- to assist NHW Community Village and its related parties in analysing the performance of Neighbourhood Watch Victoria;
- to derive or aggregate anonymous information and to provide that "repackaged" information to Neighbourhood Watch Victoria and to regulatory and other entities;
- to send e-mails and newsletters to you;
- to customise or personalise your use of the NHW Community Village website;
- to generally communicate with you;
- for any other purpose, where you have consented to its use for that purpose.
NHW Community Village may disclose your information, in an aggregated and anonymous format, to Service Providers for their internal quality control or other uses. NHW Community Village may derive a commercial benefit from disclosing the repackaged information to them.
Security of your Information
NHW Community Village employs various technology to prevent, as far as is reasonably possible, any unauthorised access, modification or disclosure of your information.
Access to your information
You can gain access to your information by written request. That request or any inquiry about NHW Community Village's privacy policy should be sent to admin@nhwcommunityvillage.org.
NHW Community Village will endeavour to deal with your request or inquiry as soon as is reasonably possible. Where you request access to your information, NHW Community Village may seek payment for the cost of supplying you with this information.
Update of your information
If your information changes, please contact NHW Community Village and NHW Community Village will endeavour to update and correct the information. Alternatively information can be directly updated by accessing MyProfile. NHW Community Village may also contact you from time to time to check that your information is still accurate.
Changes to policy
You should check this policy each time you use the NHW Community Village website. NHW Community Village's handling of any information it collects from you (including information previously collected) will be governed by the most current version of this policy.
